Singhu Border, 1 September (Sangrami Lehar Bureao)- Haryana government’s anti-farmer and barbaric behaviour is being severely condemned from all quarters. Karnal Bar Association members protested at the Mini Secretariat, seeking an FIR against SDM Ayush Sinha and others involved in the lathi-charge incidents on 28th August 2021, when CM Khattar was in Karnal for a program. They gave a two day ultimatum to the government for this. Meanwhile, All India Lawyers’ Union also announced that it will organise a protest tomorrow, on 2nd September. AILU said that it will take out a protest march from the Supreme Court to Haryana Bhawan tomorrow. Several political leaders from different parties have voiced their condemnation against the Haryana government. In Gaya in Bihar, a joint Kisan Convention which is planning the September 25th Bharat Bandh, has strongly condemned the Karnal violence unleashed by the Police against farmers. In distant Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district, to express their deep solidarity with protesting farmers, and anger against Karnal incidents, farmers have started a hunger fast. Notwithstanding the public spat that is continuing between Punjab and Haryana Chief Ministers, the fact remains that lakhs of Haryana farmers are part of the ongoing farmers’ agitation, and many brave farmers have been martyred from the state of Haryana too so far. Haryana farmers fully understand the dark and adverse implications of the central farm laws, and the importance of MSP legal guarantee. They have been fighting as equal partners for their rights, and the BJP government in Haryana is foolish to imagine that they are not involved, or that they are being instigated by other state farmers or governments. “Meanwhile, it is also clear who is instigating the Haryana Khattar-Chautala government to unleash a war against its own citizens”, said SKM. “The ultimatum has already been given from the Gharonda Kisan Panchayat which has put forward 4 demands to be met by September 6th, failing which the farmers will lay siege to the Mini Secretariat in Karnal. All of SKM is behind this, and it will become clear very soon to the world who the real Masters of SDM Ayush Sinha are, if the Haryana government does not take action against him and others”, stated SKM.
SKM also demands the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of numerous cases filed by the Haryana government against more than 2500 persons in various police stations of Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Jhajjar, Sirsa, Sonepat, Kaithal and other locations. In Karnal, it is reported that more than 12 cases have been registered, on 120 named farmers and 300 unknown others. With regard to the Bastara toll plaza, 6 cases have been filed against 700 unknown persons and 91 farmers named. In Sirsa, more than 100 peaceful protestors have been implicated in different police stations. In Sonepat, about 400 persons have been drawn into FIRs filed in Rai Police Station. In Bahadurgarh, cases have been filed against more than 150 persons. In Ambala, cases have been slapped against 450 farmers and in Panchkula, on around 260. In Panchkula, 80-year old Rajwinder Kaur, an elderly woman farmer, has also been named. This is a shameful act from the Haryana government against farmers of the state. The CM has said that he will not allow violence in the name of protest, whereas it is clear that the government is ready to be brutally violent in the name of law and order. SKM says this is shameful from an elected government. SKM asks the state BJP-JJP government to stop waging this war against its citizens, and demands an immediate and unconditional withdrawal of all cases.
Yesterday, All India Kisan Sabha delegation met with the family of Shaheed Kisan Sushil Kajal and gave one lakh rupees as immediate relief to the family. A cheque was handed over to Mrs Sudhesh Devi, his wife.
Delhi Police has issued fresh notices under Section 160 of CrPC to farmers, to join the investigation in cases related to January 26th 2021. SKM Legal Panel points out that this is unconstitutional and illegal as neither of the farmers who received these notices were named in FIRs nor have they participated in any violent incidents. This is just an objectionable and illegal intimidation tactic being deployed by Delhi Police, said SKM, and condemned the same. The Legal Panel of SKM asked the farmers not to appear before the investigation officers since it is clear that the Delhi Police intends to falsely implicate them.
Students and youth are an integral part of the Kisan Andolan. Today, a meeting organised by Punjabi University students witnessed the participation of several SKM leaders. This meeting also had agricultural economists participating in the event in Patiala.
Preparatory and planning meetings are underway in different parts of the country, to make the September 25th Bharat Bandh a great success. State level meetings are being followed up with local meetings too.
Dozens of meetings are happening in different parts of Uttar Pradesh as well as other states to mobilise more farmers to the Muzaffarnagar Mahapanchayat, and it is being dubbed as an event which would be the world’s largest assembly of farmers, on September 5th.
