Amritsar – The Revolutionary Marxist Party of India (RMPI) launched a ten-day programme of “Lok Jagao-Luterey Bhajao” Jatha March from Jalianwala Bagh here today. Two Jathas comprising top leadership of the party will approach the masses in all the districts of state, from Pathankot to Khuian Sarwar in Fazilka, and from Bhindi Saidan (Ajanala) to Mohali. The Jathas will awaken and arouse the people against the pro-corporate policies of the Modi government at the Centre as well as anti-people policies of the Congress government in Punjab. They will also expose the communal fascist agenda of the Sangh Parivar, which is responsible for the growing social tensions and atrocities on minorities, dalits and women.
Before launching the campaign, leaders of the Jatha paid floral tributes at the Shaheedi Samark. One Jatha, which is to cover districts in Majha and Doaba area, is being led by Com. Mangat Ram Pasla, General Secretary of the Party. It also includes Com. Rattan Singh Randhawa, State President of RMPI, Dr. Satnam Singh Ajnala, Gurmej Singh Timmowal, Baldev Simngh Saidpur. Amrik Singh Daud, Sital Singh Talwandi and Gurdarshan Singh Bika (All State Committee members) and some local leaders. The second Jatha, which will cover Taran Taran and all the distrits in Malwa region is being led by Com. Gurnam Singh Daud, CC Member of the Party. Alongwith him this Jatha is comprised of Com. Pargat Singh Jamarai, Jaspal Singh, Mukhtiar Singh Malha (all State Committee members) Baldev Singh Pandori, Chaman Lal Drajke and Daljit SinghDyalpura. Both the jathas were composed of a good number of motorcycles riders and some vehicles decorated with colourful banners and penals depicting photos of the great warriors of the people’s struggles as well as highlighting the burning demands of the various sections of the working masses.
Flagging off the Jathas, Com. Harkanwal Singh, State Secretary of the party, stated that the jatha will immensly contribute in awakening the people regarding the real causes of all their ills. The leaders of these jathas will address dozens of public meetings and elucidate how the imperialist dictated neo-libral policies are responsible for the rampant unemployment, agricultral crisis, skyrocketing prices and wide spread corruption in the country. They will also expose the conspiracies being hatched by the RSS to polarise the Indian society on communal lines, so as to achieve its henious designs of establishing a reactionary theocratic state in this country.
Both the Jathas jointly marched from Jalainwala Bagh upto hall gate and set to their separate routes there from. The next stop of the jatha led by Com. Mangat Ram Pasla is Butari where as Com. Gurnam Singh Daud will address a big public meeting at Khadoor Sahib.
